Good old music video
Introduction
Do you like
watching music videos or maybe you just want to see an amateur struggle to
create one? If so, I recommend you read this post as it might give you some
insight into video editing and how fun but also difficult it can be.
The project
This time I
was meant to write about my favorite project. At first, I was a bit worried as
I couldn’t really think of any. That was until I reminded myself of one. The
one that I still enjoy going back to from time to time till this day. And to be
more precise – an AMV (Anime Music Video).
The creation
I created
it over two years ago and it was actually the second edit I’ve ever made. I
remember being inspired by one video I watched on YouTube where someone
perfectly synchronized the video with music. I wanted to create something
similar. I decided to use the song “Beat it” by Michael Jackson. It might be
because I used to listen to it at that time. I also wanted the clips to match
the lyrics of the song. Anyways, one day I decided to begin the process, and I
went all in, literally. I spent the whole day working on the project,
definitely over 10 hours. I was so involved that I didn’t even take a break to
eat dinner. I just brought the food to my room and continued the work while
eating. I ended up finishing and uploading it the same day before going to bed.
Problems and why it can be difficult
I mentioned
at the beginning that it can be difficult. It is because you not only need an
idea but also a matching clip. Searching for the clips is definitely the most time-consuming
part. I had to go through all the different episodes of a single series just to
find something I was looking for. And to the problems, the fact that I was so
determined to finish it on the same day ended up backfiring. There were some
problems with the video smoothness that I didn’t realize, and I had to edit it
later on anyways. I also didn’t focus on creating a proper thumbnail which I
kind of regret.
Shortly about the English learning
The one
goal I’ve had since the beginning of my studies was improving my oral skills.
As I mentioned in the previous post, I’ve never really had many opportunities
to actually speak English before coming here. I have to say that I’ve made huge
progress during the last few months which I’m really happy about. And it’s only
going to get better the more I use English in my everyday life.
Conclusion
The project I described was definitely my favorite and I’ve had a lot of fun working on it. There were some things I could’ve done better but overall I think it turned out really well. I still enjoy watching it to this day, I actually did it two times right before writing this post. The funny thing is that you can do it too if you want. I wasn’t sure if I should share it here but well, here’s the link - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q5rgXttW3W8
